Lesotho Part III

Okay Now I am blogging about today. I am finally caught up! yay!

We had breakfast in the dining room with Harve and Klaus this morning at 8am. Then after they ate, the guys left for a day of meetings and I hit the couch for a long day of blogging. Shamus came back before lunch, we ate together, with Klaus. We went out to the patio to eat and when we sat down, and I swear it was sunny when we sat there. Suddenly there was a cool breeze, then a few rain drops, and all of a sudden, the sky opens up and dumps the water on the ground - rain drops were falling like stinging needles. It was short lived, we waited for the torrent to subside and then made a run for it into the restaurant to finish our meals. And then they headed out again for more meetings.

I went for a little walk to the store across the street to buy Shamus some new clothes (turns out he jettisoned a LOT more clothing than I did, oops). I got a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, 2 pairs of socks, and 2 face cloths for less than 200 Rand ($25-30). Yay! Especially since it’s all going to be left behind at the end of the trip. I didn’t find anything for myself though. All of the women’s pants were a little strange.

I also went to the bank here to try to get some money out of the ATM. It should have worked, but it did not. So I go inside the bank and wait to talk to a person. And she says that I am not able to take money out. I asked if I can withdraw from my VISA, but for whatever reason I couldn’t do that either. So I figured I could always change the 40 GBP I had left over in my wallet.... except changing money is VERY involved here. First of all, I waited 30 minutes in a very short line, just to have the lady give me a form to fill out that required TONNES of personal info that I didn’t have on me. So I just gave up and went to the little bakery for some cookies and drinks for later.

It's 11:30pm now and I have to get to bed. Tomorrow we are leaving for our base in the mountains.

I have crocheting (well, only the current project right now, because I have to ship the other skein I brought back home), books (only 3, yikes), and my iPod (with podcasts to listen to that should last me a while). Yikes. I don’t know when I will be connected again, but I was going to write every day and take pictures to show once I can.
